The team at Drone Tech Aerial worked with Brentwood Communications International Incorporated (BCII TV) and SCORE International Off-Road to become the first drone company to film the off road Baja series for CBS Sports broadcasting. The logic was simple, our background in manned aviation gave SCORE the confidence to allow drone operation in what is already a challenging air traffic environment. Allowing manned and unmanned aircraft to share airspace with the proper amount of coordination and communication is further proving that these hybrid operating environment are possible and safe. The final product delivers the client a no compromise benefit to utilize the strengths of the manned and unmanned systems in tandem. We love to get low, fast and tight, which is the reason why our clients keep coming to us.

Equipment

We decided that the best tool for the Job was the DJI Inspire 2. It’s faster speed and integrated FPV camera allow us to start out further and capture the action for longer. We also wanted to bring some ground gear, so the GH4 and Edelkrone Slider made the cut.

Rover?

We were really excited to bring along our latest addition to the fleet, a 4WD 1/5 scale camera car. We engineered and fabricated a triple motion isolation system to keep footage smooth in the most demanding situations.  Unfortunately, with all the jumping around to stay ahead of the action we did not get a chance to use it, but stay tuned Los Angeles.
